BioStar 2 uses several ports to establish device and data communication.
This information is crucial if you are installing the devices on remote networks with WAN or VPN.

The server port of BioStar 2 is 51212 by default, but it can be configured to another port in Setting > Server.

Maria DB uses port 3312
T&A module uses port 3000, 3002
Nginx uses port 9000

Server to Device

With server to device mode, the device connection is initiated from the BioStar Client and the client makes a connection to the server. This is why you cannot see the device from another client when it’s already connected to particular client. In this case, the port number is like the below.

If you are installing devices in a remote network, it is recommended that you use device to server, so that the device will automatically connect to the server if it loses connection.

Changing the Web Server Port

The server HTTP port or HTTPS port which is used to communicate with the client can be changed in BioStar Setting.
BioStar Setting is included in the installation of BioStar. You can search for the application in the start menu.
You will have to stop the services to change the port.


Changing the Server Port

The server port can be changed in Setting > Server in BioStar 2’s menu.

Changing the Device Port

You can change the device port in the device menu after selecting the device. It is found in the network tab.

For device with LCDs, you can set it on the device as well.
